Hello and welcome to the Spring edition of North Brighton Medical News! 🌻
In this edition:
Since our last newsletter, we’ve welcomed two new female GPs to North Brighton Medical: Dr Guan Ye and Dr Isabella Liu.🩺🩺
Thinking about a skin check before summer? ☀️
Don’t let an injury keep you on the sidelines: meet our sports GP, Dr Mark Benton. 🚶
Meet Dr Guan Ye
Dr Guan Ye joined us in September. A Bayside local, she graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2013 and worked in regional Victoria and Queensland before completing her specialist GP training in Melbourne.
She enjoys all aspects of general practice, with particular interests in women’s and reproductive health, children’s health, adolescent mental health and skin cancer medicine. She also provides contraceptive procedures, including IUD and Implanon insertion and removal.
Outside work, Guan enjoys listening to vinyl records, volunteering at a dog rescue and hiking with her family.
Guan consults on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, plus occasional Saturday mornings.
Meet Dr Isabella Liu
Dr Isabella Liu joined us in July. She studied medicine at Deakin University, completed her internship at Goulburn Valley Health and undertook further hospital training at Peninsula Health before specialising in general practice.
She enjoys caring for patients across all areas of general practice, with particular interests in women’s health and mental health. Outside medicine, she enjoys yoga and spending time with her family.
Isabella consults on Wednesdays and Saturday mornings—a handy option if weekday appointments are difficult to fit in!
A skin check before summer
As we head towards summer, it’s a good time to think about your skin—particularly if you’re due for a check or have a spot you’re concerned about.
Dr Guan Ye and Dr Peter Semaan both have a particular interest in skin cancer medicine and offer full body skin checks at North Brighton Medical. Dr Isabella Liu also offers skin checks, including on Saturday mornings.
You can now book a full body skin check online using the button below, then choose your doctor and a time that suits you.
If you’ve noticed a new or changing spot, or something that looks different from your other spots, please book promptly rather than waiting for summer. Your doctor can also advise how often you should have your skin checked based on your individual risk.
Learn more about skin checks here, or click the button below to book.
Don’t let an injury keep you on the sidelines
Looking forward to more walking, running, gardening or sport as the weather improves—but a sore knee, troublesome ankle or ongoing injury is getting in the way?
Dr Mark Benton is a GP with a particular interest in sports and exercise medicine. He sees people of all ages and activity levels, from keen athletes to those who simply want to stay active.
Mark can assess sporting injuries, muscle and joint problems, and concerns that affect your ability to exercise. He has particular experience with knee and ankle conditions and can help plan rehabilitation and a return to activity.
You don’t need to be a sportsperson to see him—and he continues to provide care for all your usual general practice needs too.
For an initial sports and exercise medicine appointment, please book a long consultation using the link below so there is enough time to discuss and assess your concern.
That’s it for this edition of North Brighton Medical News.
Enjoy the warmer weather, and we look forward to seeing you whenever you need us!
Thank you from all of the Team
